Youn-hee Kim

Dr. Youn-hee Kim has been appointed to the piano faculty both in the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University and in the Extension Division of the university since 2012. Teaching focus at MSU includes chamber music  and solo performance.  Dr. Kim has performed internationally in solo concerts as well as with orcherstras including the New York Symphony Orchestra, International Chamber Ensemble of Roma and L'orchestra de Perugia in Italy, Muenster Orchestra in Germany , and the Gangnam Symphony, Incheon Symphony Orchestra in South Kores.  Prof. Kim has numerous awards to her credits including the first and best performance award from the 2000 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the third prize in the Carmel International Piano Competition and two-time grand prizes in the Muisic Associates Performance Award Compeition in Southern California among many others.  Dr. Kim is the first recipient of Alicia de Larrocha Scholarship.  The legendary pianists Alicia de Larrocha hightly praised her performance and wrote to her: "To Youn-hee, with or without competitions, you will be a fantistic artist!"  Youn-hee also recieved critical acclaim from the Peninsola Review of the Carmel International Competition: "Kim's performance of Rachmaninoff, Etudes Tableaux (Op. 39.) was simply the best performance among any other performers live or recording."  She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambada National Music Honor Society.
