Catherine Bobbs

Piano - Mrs. Bobbs has been teaching and performing for that past 40 years in Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Houston. She has taught at Colburn and Oberlin Conservatories where her students  consistently were top award winners in local and national competitions.  Her students have soloed with major and local orchestras, been on the From the Top program, and have been accepted into major conservatories.  An accomplished accompanist, Catherine was the staff accompanist for Rice University where she accompanied the violin and cello students.  A UCLA graduate in piano performance, Catherine holds a Master of Fine Arts as well as a Masters in Piano Pedagogy. Catherine is passionate about teaching young people the beauty and personal enrichment of music.  Her teaching philosophy is that introducing the classical literature at an early stage in the learning process keeps the students motivated and inspired as well as accelerates the progress of the students.  Jazz and contemporary music repertoire is also an important factor in keeping the children interested in their piano studies.  A mother of 8 children herself, four who are professional musicians, and a teacher for the past 40 years gives Catherine a unique understanding of how young people learn. She strives to connect to each young student. PVMTA Member since 2017
